Ajuga reptans ‘Bronze Beauty’
Bronze Beauty Carpet Bugle (also called Blue Bugle, Bugleherb, Bugleweed, Carpetweed, Common Bugle, and Burgandy Lace) is a low growing semi-evergreen perennial ground cover that produces attractive 8-10 inch spikes bearing purple-blue flowers throughout April and May. Leaves bronze in color with purple highlights and radiate from the plant crown. Commonly used and referred to as a ‘ground cover’, Bronze Beauty Carpet Bugle is slowly invasive and most often used to cover bare places of ground and is dense in its nature of growth. This plant can grow in shade to full sun which makes it ideal for filling large areas like banks and hillsides. Originally native to Europe and North Africa, Ajuga reptans has a habit of choking out competing plants and weeds. Bronze Beauty Carpet Bugle is excellent in preventing soil erosion. The ground cover also makes a great under-planting for a number of other plants and trees. Do not use it as an edging for the lawn, as it will easily spread into the grass.

What am I buying?
We sell Bronze Beauty Carpet Bugle as bare root plant bundles. These bundles are collected and bunched individual plants from stands in the local landscape. Plants are 2″ or less in stem length above the soil line and 2-5″ in overall length including root(s). Bronze Beauty Carpet Bugle roots systems are delicate and may consist of a single root as individual plants are quite small. Plants are procured with help from our select list of local growers.
When are plants collected?
Once your order is placed, your plants will be collected as soon as the weather permits. This time-frame is normally within 3-7 days. During heavy order periods (April-May), this collection time can grow to 10-14 days.
How are plants shipped?
All shipments are mailed via USPS Priority Mail using PirateShip.com. We only accept orders within the contiguous United States. We monitor national weather conditions and temperatures for shipments. If at any time your order must be delayed for weather concerns, we will contact you by phone and/or email.
